I read agendas before meetings, and I have a sketched plan for one to one meetings. However, there is more to creating a meeting agenda. It is not just a list of things to talk about. Meetings Maestro, Neil Simon, shares a wealth of tips to ensure you are prepared before a meeting. These include:

  • Deciding what you want to achieve
  • Include the participants in the agenda
  • Include the apologies
  • Venue of the meeting and the start time
  • Approximate length of the meeting
  • Include names of people who will be presenting specific items

Of course some of these points are relevant to formal departmental meetings. BUT why not adopt creating an agenda for less formal, one to one meetings with clients and leads? This will push your performance levels much higher.
